The School of the Arts is an unusual, exciting, creative environment, with an Artist-in-Residence program which employs the services and expertise of sometimes as many as 70 working artists, all of which requires funding in excess of the funds provided by local, state, and federal government.
The Friends of SOTA Foundation, a 501(c3) non profit founded in 2000, actively fundraises and manages financial contributions to maintain the highest level of arts and academics programs and opportunities for the students.
From managing funds for the arts disciplines to building relationships and establishing partnerships with businesses and arts organizations, FoSOTA’s fundamental goals are to garner support and expand awareness of this remarkable school.
During a period when the SFUSD was forced to make drastic budget cuts, FoSOTA not only sustained the existing arts programs, but also made it possible to expand the course offerings, which now include: World Music+Dance, Guitar, Musical Theatre and Architecture+Design. Since 2008, under the management of Executive Director, Colleen Ivie, the Friends of SOTA Foundation, has raised and managed over $5.6 million received from grants, performances, and donations to the Annual Fund.
By giving to The Annual Fund, attending performances and exhibitions, purchasing merchandise at SOTASHOP, and becoming involved in the community, you are sharing in our vision and creating a legacy for arts education.
Donations may also be mailed to: Friends of SOTA, 236 West Portal Dr #844, San Francisco, CA 94127. Please add "Parents Annual Fund" and your child's arts discipline to the memo section.
