An Asawa SOTA alumnus (Technical Theatre, 1995), Ron has a wide range of professional experience, having worked with ABC/Disney, BBC Worldwide, the San Francisco Opera, American Conservatory Theatre, the Mendocino Music Festival, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, among others. His credits include: (Television) Dancing With The Stars, GCB, (Theatre) Company, Gypsy, Steel Magnolias, Damn Yankees, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, My Fair Lady, She Loves Me, The Skin Of Our Teeth, The Colored Museum, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, The Boys from Syracuse, Bizet's Carmen, Gian Carlo Menotti’s L'Amour à trois, and the West Coast premieres of Michael John LaChiusa's The Wild Party, Heather McDonald's The Rivers and Ravines, and Bob Marley's Three Little Birds, with Bay Area Children's Theatre. Founder of Ron Sebastian Designs, his couture line has been featured in OUT Magazine. In 2015, he received a double nomination for Best Costume Design of a Musical from the BroadwayWorld.com Awards, where he was also featured for his work directing the 2016 SOTA Spring Musical, CABARET.
A tireless advocate for youth, Ron has been involved with various local and national organizations and city governments for more than 20 years, working to create and implement programs and systems inclusive of the wants and needs of young people. He has worked with the San Francisco Youth Commission, San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, former Mayor Willie L. Brown, LYRIC, Community Network For Youth Development, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Friends of the School of the Arts Foundation, and the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. He was the founding President of the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts High School Alumni Association, and has been recognized by the California State Assembly and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
Terry Bamberger is a SF Bay Area theatre educator, acting coach and actor. She trained young actors at Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts for 5 years as an Artist-In-Residence, then took on a full-time training program working with 6th through 12th grade performers at Oakland School for the Arts where she has been for the past 6 years. She is thrilled to be rejoining SOTA’s Theatre Department.
Her recent theatre credits include Three Tall Women at Custom Made Theatre Company (2014 Bay Area Theatre Critiques Circle Nominee for best performance), the West Coast Premiere of Year of the Rooster at Impact Theatre, Jeremy Bloom’s Peter/Wendy also at Custom Made Theatre Company, and the premiere of Singulariteen at the SF Fringe Festival, as well as The Winter’s Tale, Romeo & Juliet, and The Tempest at SF Shakespeare Festival. She trained at American Conservatory Theatre, and has studied with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Film/tv credits include Coffee & Language and General Hospital.
Bamberger is honored to be a recipient of the 2013 Theatre Bay Area Titan Award.
Jeanne took her first classical ballet lessons at age 6 in the living room of a professional ballerina who lived in her neighborhood and eventually trained at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Her family moved to California when she was in highshool and at age 19, she joined Los Ayres – a classical ballet studio where she trained under Judith Byfield (Vaganova Method). As an adult, she trained with friend and mentor, Berle A. Davis (jazz, tap) at Dance Arts Centre.
A teacher and choreographer for over 20 years, Jeanne spent the last 15 years as the resident choreographer and dance program director of the award winning youth theatre arts company, StarStruck Theatre in Fremont, CA. While there, she worked on over 30 mainstage productions, developed an intensive mentorship program for aspiring dancer/teacher/choreographers/storytellers and built a thriving theatrical dance program that placed emphasis on Broadway style jazz, lyrical movement and tap, including the short-hand method of Kahnotation. Along with dance, she coached young actors in body language techniques and body awareness for a number of projects, including Beauty and the Beast, Shrek, The Musical, Annie, Seussical, The Musical and The Little Mermaid to Cats, 42ndStreet, Les Miserables, and Mary Poppins.
Jeanne has directed/choreographed for several theatre companies around the San Francisco Bay Area, including Palo Alto Players (Altar Boyz, Annie, The King and I), Pied Piper Players (Lucky Duck Just So) and Hillbarn Theatre (Annie, Tapestry). As a performer, she was blessed with the opportunities to play her dream roles including: Diana in A Chorus Line (Broadway By The Bay), Anita in West Side Story (Broadway By The Bay) and Mary in Jesus Christ Superstar (City Lights) and is an original member of CabaRay, the Cabaret to Fight AIDS, founded in 2001 by Sean Ray.
Matthew Lee Cannon hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he got his Bachelor of Music at LSU. He became the youngest member ever of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra at the age of 17 and became a contracted player the following year. He also was the first percussionist to win the Louisiana Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition and played the Paul Creston Concertino for Marimba and Orchestra.
In 2000, Matthew relocated to San Francisco to earn his Master's Degree in Orchestral Percussion Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory. He was an original member of Ensemble Parallelle, playing new music--of which Mr. Cannon is a passionate advocate.
He collaborated with Bay Area composer Alexis Alrich who wrote a marimba concerto specifically for him that was recently played by percussion virtuoso Evelyn Glennie in Hong Kong. Matthew has also been a dedicated pianist for several different children's choruses throughout the years from the Piedmont East Bay Children's choir to Cantabile Youth Singers in Los Gatos to being the original pianist for the newly formed San Francisco Youth Chorus led by Katherine Gerber which is in its third year and growing rapidly.
Matthew's first love was the musicals his mother took him to in New Orleans during his childhood and 2014 he returned to the pit and began playing for musicals around the Bay Area. He has been keyboardist for productions with Ray of Light Theater (Yeast Nation, Heathers), Broadway by the Bay (Beauty and the Beast), Throckmorton Theater (Beauty and the Beast), Berkeley Playhouse (Tarzan) and New Conservatory Theater where he played keyboard 2 for two years for Avenue Q and then became Music Director for the production the next year. Matthew was honored to be selected to Music Direct the West Coast premiere of the reworked version of On a Clear Day, You Can See Forever for which he earned a nomination by the Bay Area Theater Critic's Circle for Best Musical Director.
Most recently, Matthew has served as staff pianist for Campolindo High School in Moraga and this year, he joined the roster of Artists-in-Residence for the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts Musical Theater program as co-Music Director. He will be co-Music Director for their spring production of Young Frankenstein and will be Music Director for SOTA's production of Disaster! in May 2018. He has recorded under the Albany Records and Newport Classics labels.
A teacher and choreographer for more than fifteen years, Elizabeth was encouraged to create choreography for yearly performances for the Youth Ballet Theater of Austin, while receiving an extensive Royal Academy of Dance training. She began studies at Ballet Arts Academy at age seventeen in Spokane, Washington. She and her twin sister, Melissa, created several dance pieces for Ballet Theater of Spokane for which they received the 1st Place Award, Choreography Division in the Allied Arts Festival.
Elizabeth attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle as a Dance Major and was also employed as a camp counselor and mentor for students attending the Pacific Northwest Ballet summer program.
She attended the Alonzo King LINES Ballet summer program in San Francisco in 2003 and the LINES Ballet Year Round Training Program in 2004 and toured the United States and Canada for four months as a dancer and co-choreographer with Carpetbag Brigade, a physical theater group. Elizabeth has created three new works for the ODC PILOT program is one of the creators and co-choreographers of The Fossettes, a group inspired by Bob Fosse. Elizabeth joined the Theatre Department in 2013 and has been teaching at the ODC Rhythm & Motion School for three years and has created choreography for both the ODC School and the ODC Dance Jam.

Brady Lea is a performer, playwright and theatre arts educator. She is currently an associate resident playwright with 3Girls Theatre where her new play Big Mike With Peaches recently had its first public reading. She is a four-time Emerging Playwright Award winner and playwright-in-residence at PlayGround where she has had several full-length commissions and countless short plays staged. Brady has taught playwriting and theatre to students of all ages in numerous public schools, conservatories and private studios. She has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts Theatre Department since 2007, teaching Clowning, Improvisation and Physical theatre.
Brady is a graduate of Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College and has a degree in Writing and Performance. She has performed as a clown, juggler, mime, actor, and improviser. She was a founding member of the Vaudeville trio The Kloons with whom she wrote and performed preformed throughout the Bay Area, across the United States and Canada. She also serves as President of the Board of Directors of the WELL, the pioneering online community founded in 1985. Brady lives in San Francisco with her husband, historian David Gallagher.
A San Francisco native and graduate of Lowell High School and Princeton University, Dan spent 14 years in New York City before moving back to the Bay Area. Favorite New York productions include the U.S. premiere and cast recording of Evil Dead: The Musical, Peter Mills's The Underclassman (2006 Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Orchestrations), the award-winning revival of Working, shows at FringeNYC and NYMF, and new musicals including Yank!, Illyria, With Glee, Death for Five Voices, Honor, Iron Curtain, and more.
Regional theater credits include Vermont's Weston Playhouse (eleven seasons), Michigan's Meadow Brook Theatre (seven shows), Baltimore's CenterStage, the Barnstormers in New Hampshire, and Gateway Playhouse on Long Island. In San Francisco, Dan is the music director for American Conservatory Theater's A Christmas Carol, was assistant MD for A Little Night Music, and consulted on Monstress and Ah, Wilderness!. He is the resident music director/accompanist for A.C.T.'s Master of Fine Arts acting program, playing for classes, cabarets, fundraisers, and the full production of The Rocky Horror Show at the Strand Theater.
Dan lives in San Francisco with his wife Gretchen, managing director of the Berkeley Playhouse. He is a six-time winner of the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, and has published three books of word searches and four New York Times crosswords.
