I attend SOTA for trumpet and play soccer both on the Academy soccer team and on a club team outside of school. I decided to join Student Government because I felt that I needed to be more involved in what SOTA has to offer. I want to make sure that I leave here knowing I did something for this school. I want to contribute my thoughts and ideas at the weekly Student Government meetings every tuesday. Being in a room with several different representatives that want change is a great learning experience. I also joined to strengthen the student voice and to offer input. For a lot of people, SOTA is like a second home and I believe Student Government can help people feel even more comfortable. Joining a group of people committed to community and change is a great thing.
Hey! I'm Dylan Love-Russom, the new 11th grade Vice President. I'm a Junior in Band, where I play the trumpet. I also play piano in the Jazz Band. I am very excited to a part of student government this year. I have a few good ideas and cannot wait to help others with their plans. I love this school and want to do all I can to help it. Working with my fellow students will be a great opportunity to learn great collaboration skills. I promise to do all I can to help with all student government ventures and I am very grateful for this opportunity. Remember to always keep it in the pocket.
I am a Junior in the Visual Art Department. I joined Student Government because I would like to make a difference in this school and also learn leadership skills. SOTA is a community. By engaging in Student Government activities and discussions, I can make my experience at SOTA both educational and enjoyable. My hobbies include biking, drawling, hiking, and laying down sick beats with my band "Sweat Lodge". I am excited to complete my first year in Student Government and be the change I want to see at SOTA.
Hello, my name is Joy Lu and I am the 11th Grade Secretary. I have loved to draw ever since I was nine years old; filling in lines with vibrant colors and creating my own pictures have always been my favorite activities. I started out with colored pencils and simple materials and eventually graduated to using more complicated materials–acrylics, oils, watercolors, and pastels, all of which led me to the School of the Arts.
Art, swimming, and music are a big part of my daily routine. I spend a few hours each week volunteering for the YMCA and the library. Some of the clubs that I joined at SOTA are Farm Club, where I can feel more connected to nature, Dragon Boat, where I am constantly near lakes, bringing me closer to nature, and Mock Trial, where I engage in debate with other schools about real life situations. So far, I am satisfied where I stand in my life. I have goals that I want to achieve, and a destination I would like to reach, like getting accepted to a specific college and getting a certain job, but for now, everything I am involved with is contributing to my journey.
