SFUSD's Commitment to Arts Education

SOTA is the "jewel in the crown" of the District's Arts Master Plan

Equity, access, and excellence in arts education for every student, in every school, is the vision and goal of the San Francisco Unified School District's Department of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA).

Along with SOTA, the SFUSD's Artistic Director, Ms. Susan Stauter, and the staff of VAPA maintain offices on the McAteer campus.  VAPA oversees the implementation of the District's Arts Education Master Plan (AEMP) – the blueprint for integrating the arts into each student's daily curriculum. The plan details why and how the District will provide an education in which students accrue quality knowledge of the arts and creative experiences from their first day of preschool through the last day of their senior year in high school.
