Audition Tips

Relax. Take a deep breath...

Be Prepared! Be yourself, let us see who you are.

Be prepared for your audition. Practice for your friends and family. The more you rehearse the more comfortable you will be and the more confident you will feel on audition day.

Be yourself, let us see who you are.

Look your best but do not over-dress. Choose an outfit that allows you to move and be comfortable.

Rehearse materials in the shoes and outfit you will be performing in before your audition.

Choose songs and monologues that are age appropriate.

Pick monologues from plays and read the whole play. Don't pick monologues from anthologies that are not from plays.

If you present more than one monologue they should be distinctly different in tone and character.

Stay away from dialects in your monologues.

Have your audition music in plastic sheets in a binder so it's easy for the accompanist to read as well as turn the pages. Make sure your music is in your key and is clearly marked with all cuts and repetitions. Always set a tempo for the accompanist by singing the first few notes of the song for them.
