Creative Writing students write across genres in their four years at SOTA with a curriculum of poetry, fiction, plays, and mixed media.
Our mission is to write our way toward greater understanding of ourselves and the world we live in.
We write from our imagination and experience, across genres and contexts; we write alone, collaboratively, and with writers-in-residence. We publish our work in our acclaimed literary journal, Umlaut, and give readings at venues throughout the City.
Students are involved in various community and cultural events and, three times a year, we take our work to the SOTA stage in major reading events that attract hundreds of people.
