Admission to SOTA and the Audition Process

When you apply to SOTA you must also apply to SFUSD

SOTA is a San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) public high school. When you apply to SOTA you must also apply to SFUSD. Follow the instructions to successfully apply to both. Send questions to admissions@sfsota.org.

Apply to SOTA

Admission to SOTA is by audition only! There are 2 audition dates (1st and 2nd Round) and therefore two application/portfolio deadlines listed below. Before students are assigned an audition date and time thefollowing application paperwork must be completed and hand-delivered to the main office at SOTA:

  1. SOTA Application (click to download)
  2. Recommendation Letter (click to download) - At least 1 letter is required from an art teacher. Check discipline requirements for additional letters.
  3. Student Essay - Tell us about yourself, your interests, arts background and why you want to attend SOTA.
  4. Report Card (most recent)

  5. Portfolio (required only if applying to Creative Writing, Media and Visual Art) - Please review department audition requirements.

SOTA Application/Portfolio Deadline:

  • Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, 3pm, SOTA (main office), for a January 7, 2012 Audition (1st Round)
  • Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, 3pm, SOTA (main office), for a March 03, 2012 Audition (2nd Round)

Apply to San Francisco Unified School District

Enrollment Applications are available at any SFUSD school, the Educational Placement Center (EPC), 555 Franklin St., San Francisco, and are mailed to all students enrolled in SFUSD. Please follow all procedures, instructions and deadlines on the application. For further information www.sfusd.edu
