To celebrate its launch of Mnet, the only 24/7 English-language nationwide television network targeting Asian Americans and fans of Asian pop culture, Comcast/Mnet awarded our Media Department a $5,000 grant on Tuesday, September 27, 2011.

The ceremony has held at the New People Entertainment building on Post Street across from Japantown.

Scott Eberhardt, media chair, accepted the award. Speakers included Mike Honda,  U.S. congressman; Karen Kai, Japantown activist representing Board of Education member Emily Murase; Wes Nihei, Kimochi fundraising coordinator, and Comcast executives, including Rachelle Chong, vice president of government affairs. Ms. Chong lives right down the street from SOTA and has a niece who is an alum.
