Middle School Outreach
Advocating for arts in all of our public schools
Potential students are encouraged to attend performances that represent their interest in order to appreciate the level of commitment required at SOTA
SOTA occupies a unique position in the San Francisco Unified School District. As San Francisco's only publicly-funded art school, we have a responsibility to the community to advocate for arts education at all grade levels. We strive to impart the importance of the arts for everyone in many ways, which include:
- Open House information sessions: Each fall SOTA hosts three Open House, information sessions, to help prospective students and their parents/guardians learn more about SOTA. Open Houses are offered Friday, September 30, October 21, and November 4, 2011, from 1:30 - 3:30pm, beginning in the Dan Kryston Memorial Theatre, with an introduction to the school by our principal, and ending in tours of the arts disciplines. Please note that Dance will not tour the department as our studios are not located on the SOTA campus.
- Performances on-site at local elementary and middle schools
- Shadowing opportunities for prospective students
- Assistance with the application and audition processes
- Presentations at middle school open houses
- Representation at elementary and middle school PTA meetings
- Weekly one-on-one sessions with middle school students
Potential students are encouraged to attend performances
that represent their interest in order to appreciate the level of commitment
required at SOTA, and experience the culture of the school in action.
Please check the calendar for upcoming events and open houses, or contact our admissions staff directly at admissions@sfsota.org.
