Open House Dates (no appointment necessary)

SOTA welcomes interested students, parents, & guardians to join us the following Fridays:

September 30, October 21, November 4,

from1:30 to 3:00pm, in the Dan Kryston Theatre

This is a great way to learn more about the academic and arts programs, tour the school and arts departments, and meet with current SOTA students and parents.

Shadow Dates (by appointment only)

October 11, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21, 25, 27, 28,

November 8, 10, 15, 17, 18

To set up a shadow appointment email us at shadow@sfsota.org. Please include student name, current grade, parent/guardian contact information, the arts discipline you're interested in, whether you wish to shadow a full or half day and a 1st and 2nd choice shadow date.

Shadowing at SOTA: Visiting students may choose to shadow full or half day at SOTA. Dismissal times vary by department.

Creative Writing, Media, Instrumental Music, Tech, Vocal, Visual - 3:10 p.m. dismissal, Dance - 3:30 p.m. dismissal (see special instructions for dance*), and Theatre Arts - 4:30pm dismissal.

Full-Day Shadows (9:15am to 3:10pm) will attend academic and arts classes. Students are asked to arrive in SOTA's main office no later than 9:15 a.m. on the assigned shadow day. They will attend two academic classes, meet a shadow guide at lunch and spend the afternoon in the selected arts discipline. Students attending full-day shadows should bring lunch or lunch money.

Half-Day Shadow (1pm to about 3:10pm) students are asked to arrive in the main office no later than 1 p.m. on the assigned shadow day where they are met by their shadow guide and spend the afternoon in the selected arts discipline.

At the end of the shadow day, students are free to meet their parent/guardian in an agreed upon location or, with permission, leave on their own.

*Dance students travel by school bus from SOTA (bus leaves at 1pm) to Alonzo King Lines Ballet, 26 7th St. @ Market and are dismissed from that location at 3:30 p.m. Students do not travel back to SOTA by bus. Students must make their own arrangements to get back from this location or, with permission, leave on their own. Shadow students may take class so please make sure you come prepared with proper dance class attire.

Students who do not attend their scheduled shadow appointment will not be given another shadow date. We ask that students arrive on time and have a clear plan with their parent/guardian as to pick-up arrangements at the end of the day.
