Farm
A collaboration with Ecology Center of San Francisco
The School Farm is a collaboration between Ecology Center of San Francisco (EcoSF), and the SOTA and AAS school community.
The farm is located on the east side of the football field at the McAteer campus, and encompasses about a 1/4 acre of land planted with organic farm rows, fruit trees, and a small scale livestock operation. The farm and orchard will supply fresh, healthy organic food to the school while educating students and the community about urban agriculture and local food systems.
Projects on the horizon include a building straw bale outdoor classroom with earthen plaster, a living roof for the chicken coop and a run to keep the coyotes out! With the guidance of SOTA science instructor Tom Dallman, students enrolled in his Environmental Science class will work on these projects, composting operations, and more!
