Next Week

Friends of SOTA Board Meeting

First Tuesday of the month, Teachers' Lounge

The Friends of School of the Arts (FoSOTA) is a 501(c)3 California nonprofit that has provided fund raising and support for the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts since 2002.

FoSOTA is preparing for a major fund raising campaign, and in preparation for that we are looking for every possible way to help streamline the school and its finances, and free up the faculty and parents to focus on providing an excellent academic and arts education.

FoSOTA also supports the Alumni Association, chaired by Joe Rosenblatt, former principal. Each year the association produces a reunion for the 10-year graduating class.

Because the Board is primarily composed of alumni parents and former administrators, instead of current parents, we are able to focus on outreach and provide continuity for critical programs that must be consistently successful from year to year, including the administration of the Parents' Annual Fund, the Artists-in-Residence program, ongoing Discipline Donations, and the timely granting of money to the school, in cooperation with the principal and the discipline chairs.

The Board meeting is held in the Teachers' Lounge the first Tuesday of each month from 6pm to 8 pm. Members of the SOTA community are welcome, but if you have an agenda item, please submit it to president@fosota.org at least five days prior to the meeting.

FoSOTA also chairs very active committees, including the Outreach/PR Committee, which focuses on getting the SOTA word out to our neighboring community, the Events Committee, which produces the annual Asawa Arts Advocacy Award and the Discipline Spotlight series, and the Endowment Committee.
