SOTA Partnerships

The Science Partnership Program (SPP) allows the qualified SOTA students-sophomores or above-to enroll in college-level courses at San Francisco State University for a fee of only $25 per semester unit plus related lab fees and books. Students successfully completing a course get college credit and may be able to meet high school graduation requirements as well.

Arts Bridge to College allows students to earn college-level credits in art courses offered at San Francisco State University.

The Russian Exchange Program has enabled two groups of SOTA students to travel to Russia for one-month academic exchanges. The students live in Russian homes and attend Moscow School.

San Francisco State University also offers free after school tutoring and SAT preparation. SOTA students are invited to attend the University & College Attendance Network (U-CAN) free after-school tutoring program on SF State campus weekday afternoons between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Students must make an appointment for a two-hour orientation meeting in Room 347 of the HSS Building before starting the program. To schedule an orientation, call Gilden Chung at 415-338-6093, and leave the student's name, phone number and date preferred for the orientation meeting.

SAT Preparation is offered in self-contained modules focusing on the verbal portion of the SAT test. Reading and writing skills are emphasized and vocabulary study is offered twice monthy. Juniors should start immediately, as a separate module is offered each week and modules missed in this school year can be picked up next year before the SAT tests. Sophomores can start any time this school year or at the beginning of next year.

Academic tutorial classes focus primarily on Math and English: however, the program can add Spanish, science, and social studies. The classes are in study hall format with two-to-three tutors per room to assist students who bring homework and seek help.

Students may concurrently enroll in classes at local community colleges, such as City College, and receive both high school and college credit. You must have completed 120 high school credits with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. An official high school transcript must be submitted with the admissions applications verifying unit completion and GPA average.
