Vocal Overview
The Choral and Voice programs at SOTA are classically based and encourage the development of the complete singer. The required curriculum includes participation in the chorus (members qualify to sing in performances) and involvement in labs (often in collaboration with student pianists, emphasizing solo art songs). Other labs include select choral ensembles, select solos and small ensembles and other vocal projects. Other required elements of the program include written theory, sight singing, concert attendance and community involvement.

Students who are in good standing enjoy a wide array of additional musical opportunities.
Activities include tours, festivals, competitions and recording sessions. Opportunities for leadership development are encouraged through an elected student executive board as well as assistant conductor and section leader positions. Special seminars are also available on various topics including diction and vocal technique. Guest artists may perform and/or present material of interest and relevance. All members will be active contributors to the music community through concert attendance and performance/teaching offers.
