A serious, rigorous, conservatory-style program, Theatre students study and experience all aspects of the theatre process through classroom study and studio work: acting, movement and ethnic dance, playwriting, voice and speech, Shakespeare, directing, periods and styles, script analysis, theatrical literature, and history.
At the core of the department is the belief that “product” must stem from “process. ”Quality supersedes quantity and training for future study is the method required in a preprofessional setting." The Theatre program offers four levels of training to 80 qualified students- Basic, Intermediate, Intermediate 2, and Advanced; 4 sections with roughly 20 students in each, grouped by abilities and successful completion of the prior level. Classes are taught by credentialed teachers and professional regional Artists-in-Residence.
