Imagination, courage, persistence, passion, dedication—all qualities essential to succeed in an arts discipline and in life. Young artists at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts study to understand the history and tradition of their art forms, to learn and practice technique, find ways to collaborate and work with others, and aspire to excellence. They understand and appreciate that art comes from within and requires effort, commitment and focus; regardless of their future goals, the experiences and the skills they hone at SOTA will provide them with a unique perspective on learning and community.
Students who have the vision, focus and ability to work hard to achieve their artistic goals and who are interested in an alternative and highly creative high school experience are encouraged to apply. Students must live in San Francisco in order to apply to Asawa SOTA.
